Photography Guidelines
Shots
- We want 20–30 final photos.
- Portrait/headshot suitable for the opening spread of the article (landscape orientation with the artist’s head on one half of the image, and preferably with the other side’s background not so distracting that we can’t run text on top of it).
- Shots suitable for the cover of the magazine (portrait orientation, relative closeup on the artist, with some empty space at the top for the magazine banner). We can’t guarantee that your work will make it on the cover (since we only have one cover), but producing a good cover-worthy
- Shots of the artist at work, both closeup and wide-angle.
- We want at least some of the images to have nice, luscious shallow depth of field with plenty of bokeh (f/1.4 or f/1.8 or so).
- Other than these guidelines, you’re free to get whatever other shots you think might work well. Be creative. :)
Sizes
We need the original-size images (for the PDF edition, primarily) in either JPEG or RAW.
Submitting
You can zip the photos up and send them to the photo editor via YouSendIt.com or burn them to a CD/DVD and deliver/mail them to the photo editor.
